It's Stand Up Paddleboard Racing Season On San Francisco Bay!
If you have lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for very long you have figured out what many Stand Up Paddleboard Race Organizers have – October is one of our best weather months.
As winds recede, fog banks fade away, and temperatures moderate the Stand Up Paddling scene kicks in to full swing. In what is a credit to many of the local race formats the focus is on fun, fitness, and family. With kids races, extravagant food, good fitness, good people, shortened courses & surfboard classes the local race scene is perfect for first timers and elite athletes alike.
The end of September gets things kicked off with the 4th annual Hog Island Huff. To be specific the race is set for Sunday, September 23rd to go off at Miller Boat Launch on Tomales Bay. October kicks off with our own Whole Foods Stand Up Paddleboard Race on Saturday October 6th. The $20 entry fee is one of the best values around with Whole Foods dialing the racers in to an abundant coffee and bagel breakfast and overflowing goodie bag chock full of healthy drinks and energy bars. This upcoming race we will be welcoming Vega Sport to our race sponsorship package and goody bags. Their vegan plant based pre and post workout energy products are perfect for taking your paddling and your health up a level. Battle of the Bay is quite simply the pinnacle of the local Stand Up Paddleboard Race series. Organized by Sausalito's Bluerush Boardsports the event is truly the premiere race on the bay. The last race in October is another special day this time with Sausalito's Seatrek playing host to good times and good causes. The October 20th race, the 31st annual edition, is a benefit for Environmental Travelling Companions (ETC). ETC is a national pioneer in the field of accessible outdoor adventures for all. ETC believes that everyone, regardless of physical or financial limitations, should have the opportunity to experience the challenge and beauty of the wilderness. What? You are not in race shape? Well then it's time to join our 4 week race training program. On Monday's, Wednesdays, and Friday's we will be holding training and coaching sessions in a group format. Group size is limited to 6 people. Training starts promptly at 10am and wraps by 11:30am. $30 per head. These are workout sessions not lessons.
