Halloween Spirit At Season Opening Paddle Race
The 101 Surf Sports Winter Race Series "Witches & Lederhosen" Race #1 is in the books! Our loyal racers battled high winds and set personal records to make today's race one for the ages.
The River Town Racers from Petaluma arrived in force to give everyone a run for their money, with young Beck Geiser smashing the short course in 21:40. Our surfski, outrigger and SUP racers dug deep to finish strong, as well as a fun visit and hardcore effort on the stock prone board from John Walsh from Mendocino. Our other far and wide racers included Paul Macintyre from New Zealand as well as Claudia Luque from Peru on the OC-1. Good times were had by all. (Video below is the long course boat start)
Everyone wrapped up the race with some solid Octoberfest Weiss beers and great food served up by our dear friends chef’s Tom Sixsmith & Jen Contreras from Napa. Bravo to them and hats off to another fantastic meal to fill the tanks of the intrepid racers.
We had several amazing costumed racers join us today, and that is a friendly reminder, costumes are encouraged for each of our themed races!
A special thanks to the dedicated staff of 101 Surf Sports for attending to the last-minute race prep as well as the post-race wrap-up, without them our races wouldn't be as amazing as they currently are, so keep that high level of race experience in mind for our next upcoming Race #2 in November.
