GO TEAM USA! World Championships 8-31 thru 9-4

We are rooting hard for Team USA at the upcoming Szeged, Hungary 2022 world junior kayak and canoe championships. The team sports four current and former River Town Racers!

The World Championships for Canoe and Kayak start in Hungary this week on Wednesday August 31st and run through Sunday, September 4th.  Over 1100 paddlers from 60 countries from around the world have descended on Hungary with visions of a world title in the junior and under 23 divisions. 

We are stoked to see three of  Petaluma's River Town Racers on the team including Leah Ahmed, Petri Alva, and Philip Majumdar. Alva will be representing in the K1 500m, 1000m, and 5k, while Ahmed competes in the K4 500m, and Majumdar in the K4 500m..We have watched firsthand as these kids have put in the hard work to get this far. Just the shot at a world title is an amazing accomplishment. 

One big advantage for the River Town Racers team is the presence of hometown coach Misha Riszkiewicz. Misha is traveling with the team as an official coach. Misha and fellow Coach Susan Starbird have spent the better part of the past decade getting the group to this level and the results have been spectacular. Everyone here at the shop could not be more proud of the kids and we'll be watching live. So get your cowbells out it's going be a good week.
