Rain Plays Peekaboo At Final Paddle Race of the Season

Our sixth and final race of the season was lucky to once again get a great weather window. With that said the day brought to memory one our favorite quotes.

And dance we did despite the fact the rain was really just a whimper of precipitation. Our shop motto is “Rain or shine we are on the starting line” so over the years the race community has counted on us to make a rainy day a fun day on the water. While it was the only race of the year to not sell out we did see over 50 paddlers ready to take on the challenge.

As we look at what is going on in the world we can only fell blessed. With all the strife in the world to be able to get together and raise money and have fun at the same time. And as for the money raising part $2200 was raised in support or Lifehouse. Lifehouse is a local charity that helps the developmentally challenged find a path to independence and we could not be more proud to see our community dig so deep to help them out. Racing action was on our normal courses and featured nearly windless conditions. Some racers even reported a little bump pushing them on the way back which is certainly a treat this time of year. Paddle of the day went to Zoe Rice and Ariel Bryant who turned in a new course record on the double surfski on the short course throwing down a time of 22:32 obliterating the old record.

We once again thank everyone who paddled and we hope to see you again soon. Preferably on the water
