Winter Paddle Race Series Readies For Action on San Francisco Bay
As summer starts to fade into the rearview mirror its time to start getting the racing action underway and for the 2019/20 season, we have one action packed calendar.
Our race series is geared towards family fun and an après race ambiance that somewhat resembles a paddle party! The action on the water is focused on first time racers looking for a fun time while they improve their skills. The 2-mile short course is perfect for first time racers and stays within the confines of the protected and calm San Rafael Canal. Looking for a challenge? Well our six-mile-long course is just what the doctor ordered. Weather dependent we usually try to round the Marin Islands
Before we go on, we must thank all the folks that make these races possible. As you roll up in the morning you will find a cornucopia of Fresh Fruit, which by the way you can also get delivered to your home or office courtesy the Fruit Guys. Need some protein and hydration? Well that comes courtesy of the teams at Kind Bar and Hint Water respectively. After racing pie and ice cream? That’s a yes and we could not do it without Mamie’s Pies and Three Twins Ice Cream. These are local companies that have been supporting our races since the very beginning and all we ask is that you support the businesses that support our sport!
First time racers should register for our short course race and work up to the long course. Board rentals are available for all races and you can reserve one during the registration process. If you are not sure what division to register in just choose SUP Under 12’6 and we will figure out the best board for you when you arrive.

We support diversity and inclusion so that means almost any water craft can race. We do ask that only forward facing craft race. Invited classes are Surfski, SUP, SUP Inflatable, Prone, Outrigger, & Kayak.
The season kicks off in October and in addition to our own races there is quite a lot racing going on. Lucky for you the local race directors all work together to avoid schedule conflicts so doing them all is a possibility. Here’s a breakdown of the 2019/20 calendar.

Registration is limited to only 101 entrants for safety reasons and these races have sold out in the past. With a la nina winter on tap we expect it to be one great season.
