Stand Up Paddling (SUP) At The San Francisco Giants McCovey Cove 101 Style
As massive San Francisco Giants fans it was only natural for 101 Surf Sports to combine two of our passions - Stand Up Paddling and Baseball. And thanks to the innovative team at the San Francisco Giants SUP racing in McCovey cove was born.
You too can be part of the action. We are looking for a few special paddlers to be part of the team. Paddling in one of our Giants events will get you up on the Jumbotron in front of 40k screaming fans! Free parking and a free ticked to the game are all part of the package. We need a few solid paddlers to join in on the racing action from time to time through out the year. Call David Wells at 415-606-5078 if you are interested in going SUP SF Giants Style.
We started out the event last year and the idea was to really accentuate the unique and incredible venue that is AT&T park. The San Francisco Giants have what is truly one of the crown jewel parks in all of Major League Baseball and it only made sense to leverage the water side location that is McCovey cove. Having been to many a game ourselves as fans we were quite familiar with the in between inning entertainment, such as the dot racing on the Jumbotron. With that in mind we thought to ourselves how can we bring it all together in a way that will delight the fans and really showcase AT&T park in all its glory. The result can be seen in the video below.

Special thanks have to go to the SF Giants and in particular Joe Legasz and Jason Pearl for all their contributions and hard work and making this happen. Also thanks to all the paddlers who came by and gave it their all including Jean Rathle, Shane Rathle, Dave "Boga" Meyler, Darcy Doyle, Cort Larned, Bart Damner, Steve Bodner, Michael Valenzuela, and Kevin Seid. True paddling pro's - thanks guys!
