With the baseball season fading in to the fall classic it's time for the Monterey Bay Aquarium Stand Up Paddleboard race team to pack it up and get ready for spring training 2019.
While it was a challenging year for the Giants we were stoked to have a good luck charm effect on them with the team turning in a winning record in the events we paddled in. We are of course grateful to the Monterey Bay Aquarium for their ongoing support for the paddlesports. They obviously have a solid funny bone as well. Who else would say yes to a marketing idea that has people in fish costumes knocking each other in the water in a winner take all to the sprint to the finish. Check out the right hook of Orang fish in the video below.
If you think it's easy to paddle in these costumes we are ready to call your bluff. Our team is built up with some of the areas top paddlers. Nick and Alex Cambell, Amanda Kahn-kirby, Ashley Taylor, Ryan Cleary, Geoff Schwarten, Janet Walp and James Dooley all got in on the action. Thanks to all those who paddled.
As long as we are thanking folks we need to say thanks to the entire Giants organization with some extra special gratitude for Sarah Loving. Sarah's flexibility in making all the varaibles work is much like herding cats. The day Madbum threw his 1500th strike out right before our event had her scrambling on over-drive to fit it all in - which of course she did.
We hope the fans enjoyed the show and if the loud cheers we hear are any indication, they did. How lucky the Giants are to have such an iconic water side venue. And how smart they are leveraging in to just one more way to delight and entertain one of the best fan bases in sports.
