Paddleboarding Crissy Field The Adventure Continues

Paddleboarding Crissy Field is fun!

Paddleboarding Crissy Field is fun!

We sure are lucky to call this place home. Our Crissy Field Paddles are not for beginner paddlers but paddling under the Golden Gate should be on everyone's bucket list.

We had first Crissy Field paddle this past Monday and it was one to remember. A combination of the nasty flu going around and the Superbowl hangovers thinned our normal crowd quite a bit. We welcome paddlers in any forward facing paddle craft to join us.

Paddleboarding on San Francisco Bay with the City Skyline in the background

Our normal routine is meeting at Crissy Field's East Beach in San Francisco and then paddling up to and under the Golden Gate Bridge. We leave the beach promptly at 7:30 am to get the best weather. Once we get up to the bridge we make a judgement call on the next best step and today the order of business was to hug the coast and make our way out to Baker Beach.

More advanced paddlers can choose to navigate in and around the rocks while the others simply swing wide and enjoy the gorgeous views. A we made our way back under the bridge we had a nice treadmill of ebb tide to make for some challenging fun. I was able to surf a few waves on SIC's new RS race board while the group padde. The 14 x 23 is one fast board that surfs great too.

Our next paddle is actually this Friday and you can more opportunities in our date list below. These paddles are free to all. We highly recommend wetsuits for this adventure which again is not for beginners. We can also bring a board, paddle, and pfd to the beach for you. Just call the shop at 415-524-8492 to arrange that and then let the adventure begin.
