Thanks To All Our Trash-Picker-Upers At Our Last Coastal Clean Up Trash Pick Up

The 2018 Coastal Clean Up this past September 16th was one trashtastic day. We can't thank enough all 101 Surf Sports Paddleboarders and Kayakers WHO pitched in to help clean up the San Rafael Canal.

We counted back to this being our 19th trash pick up since our 2011 opening. By partnering with San Rafael Clean and the California Coastal Commission we offer up free Kayak and Paddleboarding rentals along with introductory lessons to any paddler who is willing to pick up trash as they paddle along the San Rafael Canal. This year 17 paddlers cleaned up over 400lbs of trash. This was our smallest haul ever and we hope a good sign we are making a difference!

A huge thanks to Marin Sanitary Service who once again picked up all the trash for free. We are proud to call them partners.

Thanks again to all the paddlers who helped clean up the canal with special thanks to San Rafael coordinator Ann Bauer who manages the volunteer program for the city of San Rafael.   We have two cleanups on the calendar already for next year so put down Earth Day and Coastal Clean up day now and we'll see you on the water.
