Stand Up Paddleboard Racing on San Francisco Bay

The 2016 Paddle Racing Scene is simply on fire on San Francisco Bay. With a calendar this full it’s a good idea to look at all the action and plan your paddle race season up front. Here’s a bit of help doing just that.

Battle of the bay SAN FRANCISCO paddle raceIt all kicks off with the biggest race of all, the 2016 Battle of the Bay. The Battle of the Bay (BoB) this year however is no ordinary paddle race. With day 1 featuring the area’s toughest race course and a day 2 buoy turning course this is one of the best events of the year. The team at Bluerush Boardsports has upped the ante big time. The 2016 BoB including windsurfing and kiteboard racing right alongside the paddling. So mark down September 17-18 and we will see on the San Francisco Waterfront. If you have the game than register pro for a shot at some of the $16k in prize money that is up for grabs. More Information

Next up we kick off the 5th season of racing here at 101 Surf Sports San Rafael. We are stoked to welcome back our incredible team of sponsors including Kind Bar, Hint Water, O’Neill, Mamie’s Pies, and the Fruitguys. We are also happy to welcome to the team the 101 North Brewing Company. Pies and Beer? Yes that’s racing at 101 Surf Sports. As usual we will feature a 2 mile short course that is perfect for first time racers right alongside our 6 mile round the islands course. December will feature the 13 mile Long Strange trip that sends paddlers from the Golden Gate Bridge to the San Rafael Shop. Our November and February races will see 100% of the proceeds donated to charity as usual and we thank you ahead of time for your support.

Raceboard Rentals are available at all 101 Surf Sports Races for only $30. Please sign up online and reserve your board at the same time.

In the interest of safety we need to limit the number of entrants to the 101 Surf Sports Paddle race series. With only 101 spots open it’s imperative you sign up early or risk not being able to race. Last year every race sold out so you have been warned. Once again we invite Surfski, Prone, Outrigger Canoe, Kayak, and Stand Up Paddleboard classes. The dates for the 2016 season are

October 15th - San Rafael Race 1 Oktoberfest Theme

October 29th - SUP Run Championships McNears Beach
