Slalom Windsurfing Is Back On San Francisco Bay

One of the funnest disciplines in windsurfing is downwind slalom. One problem. It's really hard to pull off. Well the team at St Francis Yacht Club along with local sailing fleet have marked that problem solved.

For the past 25 years or so Windsurfing Course Racing has been the mainstay of windsurfing racing on San Francisco Bay with the occassional slalom race popping up here and there. This years Formula racers have thrown 4 of the regular Friday Night races at Crissy Field in to the hopper changing them in to downwind slalom. The fleet is encouraging sailors with all types of gear to get in on the action. With both A and B fleets for sailors of different levels this is the perfect opportunity drag race your buddies. Got bump and jump gear? Then you are ready to go.

The racing is meant to be high level fun with the seasoned slalom sailors helping get the more recreational sailors to give slalom windsurfing a try. The speed and power of slalom mixed in with the commraderie of the local fleet makes this don't miss fun. You can pre-register or show up as a drop-in. Registration in the StFYC Slalom series essentially makes you a member of the St. Francis for the day. Enjoy a hot shower after racing and then retire to the grill room for a burger and cold brew with sweeping Golden Gate views at your table side.

So Friday's are a no go for you? No problem as there are four Saturday sessions being set up by the local fleet. This is no slouch series however with professional race management running the show. The format is again inclusive with all types of gear welcome to race. The racing will be centered on Crissy Field. The focus is fast fun!
