Art and Surf Collide in San Rafael

The stoke starts early here in Nor Cal and the kids over at Marin School of the Arts have the stoke in spades. We challenged Mrs Jones Art 1 class with a art contest and the results are pretty clear ---- San Rafael's got talent! (pictured above first place winner Danielle Duke)

The contest was simple in definition but difficult in execution. With water sports as the background and Ohana as the spirit the kids took pen to paper and came up with some incredible designs. All is fair in love and art so we put windsurfing, kiteboarding, stand up paddleboarding, surfing, and kayaking in to the proverbial creative blender and here is what came out. 

First place winner Danielle Dube nailed it with her fish over 101 Design. We love the water and all the creatures we share with it. Danielle's design captured our love of the sea while tastefully working in the shamless but necessary 101 logo. The design just jumps off the page (pun intended) and we love it.

It was not an easy choice however with Alyssa Ruehle's Gidget goes 101 Tropical design in hot contention. Palm tree's, Grass Skirts, and surfboards on a deserted isle now that's our style.

Third place went to the Hibiscus design by Sophia Santa. Nothing says "Da Islands Bruddah" like a nice Hibiscus flower. Ensconce our logo in the flora of Hawaii and do it with grace and elegance and you have a solid podium finish. Nice Job Sophia.

Thanks again to all who entered but espescially to Mrs Jones and the Marin School of the Arts for acces to these bright, young, and creative minds.  Also extra Aloha to Sophi Rutherford our resident go-between who helped bring the two worlds of Art and Surf together.
