With summer starting to fade in to fall it's time to set up for our 2018/19 Paddle Racing Season. With a focus on family fun and adventure we are rolling out a full schedule of events that kick of this September.

First up we must thank our returning sponsors. Some who’ve been with us from the beginning. When you have Pie and Ice Cream sponsors you have a race. When you have Three Twins Ice Cream and Mamie’s Pies you have a race and a party! We try hard to make our racing a fun family affair. We know that the elite athletes will come anyway so making it fun for first time and novice racers is priority one.

With hydration from Hint Water and nutritious snacks from Kind Bar no one goes home on and empty stomach. Throw in the cornucopia of fruit provided by the Fruit Guys and you have a healthy offering that meshes nicely with our health-conscious approach to life. Did you know you can have that same fruit delivered right to your home and/or office by the Fruit Guys? Well now you do.

This year see’s the return of the Long Strange Trip Paddle Race that sends paddlers 13 miles from the Golden Gate Bridge all the way to the shop. This is not a race for beginners but is a bucket list that you should start training for now. Last years tides simply didn’t line up for us to hold the event, but we are looking forward to a great race this year. Race Date December 8th.

Also new this year is the Leukemia Lymphoma Society Charity race being hosted at the San Rafael shop. We helped run last years event out of the Corinthian Yacht Club but this year we bring the event on home to San Rafael. We are asking all the paddlers to try to raise $500 from family and friends. After registering for the event, you will get a fundraising webpage custom built for you to help us beat cancer. Race Date September 22nd.

We will once again be hosting 4 races in our Redwood City location in addition to 4 more in San Rafael so there is something for paddlers on both sides of the bridge. We welcome OC1, OC2, SUP, Prone, Surfski, and kayak classes. In fact, if it’s human powered and the rider faces forward call us and well make a class for you. We’d love to see more Inflatables and Surfing Style paddleboards so if you got ‘em bring ‘em. This year we have created specific divisions for both inflatables and surfing style SUP.

Racing is about fun and personal bests. So come on down and see if you can beat your own time. Racing yourself on the clock is the best way to up your game.

Please sign up early for any events that interest you. It really helps us with planning and we thank you ahead of time.

Did you know kids race free at our races? Well its true. In fact, all under 16 kids race for free on our short course as long as they have their own gear. No gear? No problem we can rent stuff for them on race day for simple $30 fee that includes lunch as well. Lunch? Yes, lunch is part of the whole experience and some would argue the most important part. Our spread has become somewhat legendary and with Cort raising the bar each year we can’t wait to see what next season brings us. .

You can find all our races on Paddleguru.com or on our Website calendar. With an official policy of “rain or shine we are on the starting line” you can make plans assured you will get to race despite almost anything mother nature throws at us.

We are also working on a fun Pedal and Paddle Race with our friends and partners at Pelo Fitness that will combine stationary bike racing followed immediately by a 2-mile paddle race. That date is not set yet but keep your ears peeled.

As always, we recommend you sign up early for any race you are interested in. We do need to cap participation at 101 racers to keep the event safe and fun for all.
